ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS – WHY USE THEM

    May 28, 2009 // Comments Off

The human body is a remarkable thing but strangely it can get addicted to things. All addictions are harmful in some way but we have become so sensitised to food being sweet that a huge number of people are effectively addicted to sucrose or glucose or artificial sweeteners - e.g.. sucralose, splenda, Nutrasweet. If we use sucrose or glucose we pile on the pounds and we crave sugar with everything. This addiction is at the root of the epidemics of obesity, diabetes, dental decay and so much more. By listening to chemical and food companies who substitute sugar with artificial sweeteners we are storing up equally serious problems. Chocoholics that includes you too. We need to try to get back to a diet that contains far less sucrose and avoid artificial sweeteners like the plague.

STROKES – BE AWARE OF THE SIGNS

    December 15, 2008 // Comments Off

There is a lot of misunderstanding and confusion about strokes and it is worth knowing the signs and what to do about them. In very simple terms a stoke occurs when the blood supply to a part of the brain is interrupted or even reduced. They can be caused by burst blood vessels, blood clots, embolism (bubbles) or physical trauma. What happens when an area of the brain gets staved of oxygen is that it begins to die - there may be pain, loss of motor control but the long and short of it is that the brain begins to die. If you can restore the blood supply inside about 3 hours the chances of a full recovery are very good.

    anti virus vs network security

    December 8, 2008 // Comments Off

Quite simply the threat in 2000 to PC users was the e mail spread virus. There wasn't much else negative out there. Today the threat is no longer the e mail virus but small bits of code that can sit quietly on your system and inform others about what you do. The other more insidious threat is where you go to a website that has malicious code that attempts to capture your details.

    drawing

    November 28, 2008 // Comments Off

I started using Smart Draw 3 some 8 years ago. So long in fact that no one at the corporate offices has a copy any more. I lost my copy of Smart Draw 3 missed it so much. Smart Draw is much more than a business drawing programme. It has such amazing educational resources for teachers and pupils alike. The maps alone are worth the cost of the programme. We begin here a series of lenses that attempt to show the scope and power of the software and in many areas. The picture in green of 2 beavers is just created from clip art and took just seconds.

    Amino Acids

    October 21, 2008 // Comments Off

The essential amino acids are arginine (required for the young, but not for adults), histidine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan, and valine. The 10 amino acids that we can produce are alanine, asparagine, aspartic acid, cysteine, glutamic acid, glutamine, glycine, proline, serine and tyrosine. Tyrosine is produced from phenylalanine, so if the diet is deficient in phenylalanine, tyrosine will be required as well.

350.org was started to raise the profile of the environmental catastrophe that we face if we do nothing. The significance of the figure 350 is the level of CO2 that we find in the atmosphere. We are currently in the region of 389 and rising fast.
