Trehalose and Alzheimer’s
2009 October 1
New research suggests HOW the disaccharide trehalose reduces the toxicity of the amyloid β peptide. Evidence indicated that it is this amyloid β toxicity that plays an important role in the development of Alzheimer’s disease. Trehalose actually appears to fold the peptide favourably. Trehalose promotes the insertion of α-helical amyloid β into biological membranes.
This is just the latest bit of the puzzle and backs up what we have seen in real people who use Trehalose.
